(Sacramento) – Several lawmakers, including California State Assemblymember Rob Bonta D-Oakland, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf and 10 other California mayors gathered at the State Capital to urge the State Legislature to take action to alleviate the burden of high housing costs in California. Lawmakers agree we have a housing crisis on our hands and there is an urgent need for more affordable housing in California. “Housing is not a partisan issue,” said Assemblymember Bonta. “Urgent help is needed now.

SACRAMENTO - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr., Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Senator Bob Hertzberg and Assemblymember Rob Bonta today committed to working together on reforms to California's bail system that prioritize public safety and cost-efficiency. 

Discussions regarding the current legislation - SB 10, the California Money Bail Reform Act of 2017, authored by Senator Hertzberg and Assemblymember Bonta - will continue throughout the fall and the bill will be revisited early next year, in the second year of the two-year legislative session.

(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland) co-authored Assembly Joint Resolution 20 to reaffirm California’s leadership in the fight against climate change and its willingness to work with the rest of the world to stop “the existential crisis of our time.”  “As our federal government declines to protect our communities from rising sea levels, heat islands and polluted air, it is important that California step up meet these challenges head on,” Assemblymember Bonta said as the Assembly prepared to vote on AJR 20.
