API Legislative Caucus Unanimously Supports Historic Environmental Protection Laws

Thursday, August 25, 2016

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland), Chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus, made the following statement today after the API Legislative Caucus unanimously voted in support of AB 197, to bring equity and transparency to the state’s climate change policies. The vote comes one day after the Caucus unanimously supported a companion bill, SB 32, to bolster California’s greenhouse gas reduction goals.

“As the Chair of the Asian Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus, I’m proud that my colleagues were united to ensure California continues to take bold action and to be the global leader in combating climate change.
“These groundbreaking measures, unanimously supported by the API Legislative Caucus, chart new pathways on climate change and directly invest in disadvantaged communities that are disproportionately impacted by air pollution. SB 32 and AB 197 are good for public health, air quality, and protecting future generations,” Bonta concluded.
