Budget Passed Today Reflects Values of the Golden State, Says Bonta

Monday, June 15, 2015

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland) issued the following statement today after the Legislature passed its fifth balanced, on-time state budget in a row:

“Today’s budget invests in California’s most valuable asset: our people. After years of cuts, the budget reflects my core Democratic values and the priorities of the state. The budget fights poverty, reinvests in schools and early childhood education, improves access to higher education, builds reserves for a rainy day, and pays down debt.

“This on-time and fiscally responsible budget ensures our state is in a position to continue to invest in our people, improve the lives of all Californians, and build a better future for our state,” Bonta concluded.

Assemblymember Bonta represents the 18th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Oakland, Alameda, and San Leandro. Bonta Chairs the Assembly Health Committee; the Public Employees, Retirement, and Social Security Committee; and the Select Committee on the Status of Boys and Men of Color. He is also a member of the following committees: Appropriations, Budget, Budget Subcommittee No. 1 on Health and Human Services, Joint Legislative Budget, and Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management.
