Gun Violence: An Unacceptable Epidemic

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

SACRAMENTO - Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D- Oakland) issued the following statement today on the shootings in Alexandria, VA and San Francisco:

“The violence we have seen across our country today, from Alexandria, VA to San Francisco is part of an ongoing and unacceptable epidemic.  Gun violence in America crosses all lines of demographics. It’s not a left-wing, right-wing, urban, or rural problem.  It’s an American problem. And as Americans, we must solve it once and for all.”

“Elected officials, workers, families, and Americans from all walks of life are suffering horrific losses.  Gun violence has no place in the world we collectively want and deserve for ourselves and our next generation.”

Assemblymember Rob Bonta represents the 18th Assembly District, which includes Oakland, Alameda, and San Leandro and is the Assistant Majority Leader and Chair of the Asian Pacific Islander (API) Legislative Caucus.
