Bonta Announces Implementation of Human Trafficking Prevention Law

(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland) joined with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra and other supporters to announce the implementation of Assembly Bill 1227, The Human Trafficking Prevention, Education and Training Act . ”Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world and the National Human Trafficking Hot Line lists California as having the highest amount of human trafficking in the nation,” Assemblymember Bonta said. “AB 1227 sets the stage for a first-of-its-kind, statewide prevention education program that helps teachers spot trafficking and empowers students to avoid victimization,” said Ashlie Bryant, CEO and Co-Founder of 3Strands Global Foundation which developed the program AB 1227 is based on.
