Assemblymember Bonta Celebrates Filipino Heritage Month

Thursday, November 14, 2013

(Alameda, CA) -- Filipinos have richly contributed to California's culture and history. As the first Filipino American to be elected to the California State Legislature, Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland) is honored to have the opportunity to tell the story of Filipinos in this country. Assemblymember Bonta held a press conference in October to commemorate Filipino Heritage Month and celebrate the Governor's signing of AB 123 -- a first-of-its-kind bill to require the state curriculum to include the contributions of Filipino Americans to the farm labor movement in California. Watch this Assembly Access Video to see a portion of that press conference.
