Assemblymember Bonta Commemorates Filipino History Month and Inaugural Larry Itliong Day

(Sacramento, CA) – October 25th marks the birthdate of California and Filipino farm labor hero, Larry Itliong, whose contributions to the farm labor movement will now be recognized in California with an annual day of recognition. Assemblymember Rob Bonta (D-Oakland) explained why he authored AB 7 to ensure that all Californians are aware of the important role Itliong played in the rich and vibrant collective history of our state. “Larry Itliong was one of the greatest labor organizers and leaders in California history,” Bonta explained. “He was a hero not only to the Filipino American community, but to all Californians and Americans who fought and continue to fight for socioeconomic and racial justice in our state and nation. By signing AB 7, Governor Brown guaranteed that Itliong’s work and legacy of fighting for justice, opportunity, and equality will be properly honored for generations to come.”
