1. Department of Parks and Recreation: Outdoor Equity Grants Program

California Department of Parks and Recreation

The California Department of Parks and Recreation invites all 501(c)(3) nonprofit, public agencies, and community-based organizations to apply for Round 2 of the Outdoor Equity Grants Program. The Outdoor Equity Grants Program provides state funding for new educational, recreational, service learning, and outdoor initiatives for underserved communities. The maximum grant request amount per application is $700,000.

Applications are due before 5 p.m. on December 14, 2023.

 

Cultural Funding Program Grants2. City Arts and Culture Grant Applications Now Available

The City of Oakland’s Cultural Funding Program is now accepting grant applications for arts and cultural nonprofit organizations and community festivals. All applicants and activities must be Oakland-based, with activities presented between July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024.

Applications are due August 31, 2023, at 5 p.m.

 

 

 

 

3. Regional Resilience Grant Program (RRGP)

Regional Resilience GrantThe RRGP funds planning and implementation projects that strengthen climate change resilience at a regional scale. The funds are projects led by partnerships that involve multiple jurisdictions working together to address the most significant climate change risks in their regions, especially in communities most vulnerable to climate change impacts, such as wildfires and rising sea levels. 4. Elevate Youth California

Funded by Elevate Youth California Cohort 5 Standard Track and granted through the Department of Health Care Services, approximately $41 million is available for substance abuse prevention programs for children, youth, and young adults. This statewide program aims to invest in youth and young adult health, leadership, civic engagement, and activism from communities disproportionately impacted by the war on drugs. 5. Clean Mobility in Schools (CMIS) and Sustainable Transportation Equity Project (STEP)

The California Air Resources Board is making roughly $30M available to fund planning or implementation projects to promote transportation equity such as active transportation, school transportation, and education and outreach campaigns.

Eligible applicants need to be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public agencies, tribal governments, or community-based organizations and demonstrate partnerships between a Lead Application, Sub-Application, and Community Partners. Visit the California Grants Portal to learn more and apply.

6. California Community Reinvestment Grants Program (CalCRG)

The Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development released its CalCRG grants page to help communities and neighborhoods most impacted by the War on Drugs. Strong CalCRG applicants must demonstrate supportive services for communities disproportionately affected by past War on Drug policies for job placement, mental health treatment, substance use disorder treatment, system navigation services, legal services to address barriers to reentry and linkages to medical care.

Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, community-based organizations, local health departments, or existing CalCRG program grantees. Visit the California Grants Portal to learn more and apply.

7. Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) Grants Program

The Federal bi-partisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act established the Strengthening Mobility and Revolutionizing Transportation (SMART) grant program for projects focused both on transportation and mobility infrastructure to improve safety and on local needs. 8. Small Community Drought Relief Program

Available from the Department of Water Resources, and funded by the Budget Act of 2021, the Small Community Drought Relief Program provides immediate and near-term financial and technical support to help communities adapt to drought conditions. Competitive grant applications provide relief for conditions arising from extreme weather and climate change, such as droughts, for human health safety, and wildlife resources. 9. California Advanced Services Fund Broadband Adoption Account

The California Public Utilities Commission, through the California Advanced Services Fund Broadband Adoption Account, is providing grants to programs and projects that are increasing publicly available or after-school broadband access and digital inclusion, such as digital literacy training programs and public education to communities with limited broadband adoption.

Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public agencies, businesses, senior centers, schools, or other community-based organizations. If selected, they will receive up to 85% coverage of eligible program costs. To apply or learn more, visit the California Grants Portal.

10. California Advanced Services Fund Broadband Public Housing Account

The California Advanced Services Fund (CASF) and the Public Utilities Commission are making a total of $15M available for the Broadband Public Housing Account to support residents of low-income communities, such as publicly supported housing and other housing developments, with grants and/or loans to build broadband networks and offer free broadband networks.

Eligible applicants need to be 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public agencies, or businesses that can apply for up to $150K per project with 100% financing of the costs to install inside wiring and broadband network equipment. To apply or learn more, visit the California Grants Portal.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until January 1, 2024 or until funds are exhausted.

 

11. Lowe’s Foundation Gable Grants

Last month, Lowe’s announced nearly $8 million in grant funding nationwide in their first year to support skilled trades workforce development initiatives. Lowe’s Foundation Gable Grants plan aims to support 50,000 people for professions in skilled training and trade to meet the demand for skilled tradespeople.

Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit, community-based organizations, or community and technical colleges that can apply to offer sustainable skilled trades education that serves one or more under-represented communities. Grant amounts vary between $100,000 to $1 million. Visit Lowe’s to learn more and apply.
