Last week, I voted to give you the power.
Texas is moving forward with new redistricting maps, and other states, such as Florida and Indiana, are facing pressure to commit to their own redistricting plans. That’s why I supported legislation last week that will allow voters the chance to decide if California should enact a new congressional map.
Thank you to those who reached out to our office to share your input on this crucial issue. Learn more and view the proposed congressional maps here.

Assemblymember, 18th District

Amidst the hustle and bustle, we found a moment of bipartisan support on the Assembly floor – celebrating Oakland’s very own Marshawn Lynch. Marshawn Lynch represents the very best of Oakland and California: a fierce competitor on the field, a dedicated community activist, a talented actor, and even the owner of a community staple restaurant right here in our district. It was my honor to welcome him to the Capitol.

Caltrans Funding for Local Projects:
The California Transportation Commission approved $3 billion in state grants to enhance safety and convenience along state highways and roadways across California, including several ongoing projects in AD18. Funding is derived from $663 million from Senate Bill (SB) 1 (2017) and approximately $2 billion from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA).
Projects include;
- $24,054,000 on I-580 in Oakland, at Fruitvale Avenue Undercrossing, Broadway–Richmond Boulevard Undercrossing, and Webster Street Undercrossing, to perform seismic retrofits on two bridges and replace bridge rails on three bridges.
- $1,101,000 on I-580 in Oakland, at Beaumont Avenue Undercrossing Bridge, to perform bridge repairs due to heavy rainfall in February 2025 that caused water intrusion, subbase failure, and lab settlement.
- $80,000 on SR-260 in Alameda and Oakland, at the Posey and Webster Tubes, to install fuel cell power supply systems to maintain safety systems in the event of a fire emergency.

We have been ringing the alarm bell about the impacts that Trump's Big Bad Bill, now signed into law, will have on Californians. I was proud to co-host an informational hearing between the Assembly and Senate Health Committees to detail the deep harm this bill will have on our safety net programs, particularly on our healthcare. $900 billion in Medicaid funding is now being used to fund tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy. Three million Californians may lose their Medi-Cal coverage. Over 100 Planned Parenthood clinics across the state may be forced to close their doors. This is a staggering level of disinvestment in our healthcare, and the effects on our hospitals, healthcare facilities, and healthcare providers will be felt by every single Californian, regardless of whether they are on Medi-Cal. California must fight back for the health and well-being of our communities, and I am committed to taking the steps needed to ensure we support our neighbors and our healthcare infrastructure.
