As Chair of the Assembly Health Committee, it’s been my mission to ensure that our state's healthcare system can deliver quality and accessible care while protecting the health and safety of patients and medical staff.

As we embrace the vibrant month of June, it’s a momentous occasion to raise our voices and rainbow flags high in celebration of Pride Month throughout the 18th District.

Riders of AC Transit may have noticed changes to time and bus line services that went into effect on June 16, 2024. This will impact commuters throughout the District and the greater East Bay, so having awareness is essential to planning your commute effectively.

This June 19, I am proud to join communities across Assembly District 18 to celebrate Juneteenth, a historic holiday that recognizes the end of slavery, and offers a moment to appreciate the contributions of abolitionists, activists, and African American communities who fought for equality and freedom across the United States of America.

As the school year comes to a close, California is working to ensure that the more than 3.2 million K-12 students receiving free and reduced-price school lunches maintain access to the quality nutrition they need to thrive.

Nearly four million Californians are working to pay back student loans, with an average balance of almost $39,000. Regardless of race, income, or nationality, everyone should have access to higher education without socioeconomic barriers limiting their ability to seek education. Since assuming the presidency, President Biden has been diligent in striving to alleviate the burden of student loans for all Americans.

In case you missed it, an important year-long project has been AC Transit’s Realign Plan working to update the bus lines and schedules that will affect riders within our District and the greater East Bay. While it's an honor to represent crucial public transit and community hubs serviced by BART, AC Transit, and Paratransit, public input and feedback remain essential.

This May marks Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month – an important opportunity to celebrate the cultural traditions and considerable impact that Asian American and Pacific Islander communities have made across the country and especially here in the East Bay.

My office has received many calls from community members across the district who have shared troubling news that their home insurance will not be renewed as companies like State Farm announce new restrictions and limitations amid a changing insurance market. During this stressful time, I want to ensure you have the proper information to know your rights and make the best decision for you and your family.

I’m thrilled to announce that my Summer 2024 Student Internship Program is now accepting applications! Apply before May 12, 2024! My office is looking for engaged students in high school and college or recent graduates looking to spend a minimum of 10 hours a week learning about California policy and engaging our community.
